ARCO Marche ( Regional Association of Consumer Brands) supports the request for withdrawal of some dyes
Forty consumer associations of 12 EU states have asked in a letter to Androula Vassiliou, the new European Commissioner responsible for Public Health, Mass 6 to call for food coloring suspected of causing hyperactivity. A decision made in strong contrast with the EFSA, the European Food Safety Authority "guilty" - according to the associations - not to have them removed from the market, while being aware of a study by the UK Food Standards recognizing the effect of these products on children's behavior. EFSA, however, preferred not to take action before it is proven beyond any doubt that the substance is harmful. The dyes are accused Tartrazine E102, the E104 Quinoline Yellow, Sunset Yellow the E110, the E122 Carmoisine, the E124 Ponceau 4R, Allura Red and E129.
